Mother's Day 2008

It’s another mother’s day
Try to think of something clever to say
Like how she put up with all our childhood hi-jinx
And stood right by us every time we got in trouble
Like that time I got drunk on too much vodka
And wound up passed out in the bushes in the front yard

Or when the cops they busted me for having fake ID
Everybody does it but man she was so pissed at me!

Like how she raised us and went to school and worked all day
And cooked us dinner and always did our laundry
Or how she introduced me to the world of rock and roll
And let me listen to her collection of old 45s

Elvis Presley, Buddy Holley, Coasters, Platters, Fabian
Dion and the Belmonts, Pat Boone, Frankie Avalon

Its hard to summarize your thoughts each year on mothers day
No one wants to hear a song that’s trite or sappy or cliché
So I offer up this tune of heartfelt thanks and praises
Oh yeah I stole the music but the lyrics are all mine
Plus I recorded the whole thing for posterity
Check out molly on the bass, her first recording ever

Thank you mom, for being my mom
Enjoy your day, happy mothers day!
